Dear Families,
Important notes:
1) Several items were sent home today: April calendar, new peer spelling words and Scholastic
2) No School this Friday April 3rd and Monday April 6th.
This morning it was great seeing everyone's smiling faces. After reading tubs we shared about our vacation. During Daily 5, students either wrote about their time with their family during Work on Writing, met in their guiding reading group, listened to Story Online / Bookfliks or tried to solve the mystery word by creating many small words. The mystery word letters for the week are: e, i, i, g, m, n, p, r, s, t
After recess we went to the Learning Commons and reviewed how to look for books and treat the space with respect. We also got new books for our reading tubs and did a book exchange. After lunch, we chose our new spelling words and practiced subtraction with regrouping in math. In gym we played Octopus and used the scoops / balls in as many creative ways as possible. To finish the day we learned about the Arctic and polar bears from the movie In the Arctic. Some questions we have are: What do walrus' eat? and How do walrus' get tusks? We were also fascinated by how they photographers filmed the polar bears swimming. We look forward to finishing the movie tomorrow and learning more about the Arctic.
