Today in Science we discussed the properties of water and how it can hold together so well as it did during our 'Drops on a Penny' experiment. The students learned a new word called Surface Tension which is very strong for water.
We did another experiment to demonstrate water's strong surface tension. We filled a jar very full with water and then slowly dropped in paper clips. We were able to fit 150 paper clips in the jar before it over flowed. We also were able to balance paper clips on the top of the water just like a water strider can walk on water.
