Our first day back after Spring Break was enjoyable. The students were excited to share about their time away from school. They were very focused writing in their journals about their experiences. In the morning we listened to a long story called Fiddles and Spoons which is about the Acadian deportation from the perspective of a mice family. We were using our senses to imagine the sights, sounds, smells and feelings that the Acadian people may have felt before, during and after they were deported.
In the afternoon, we continued discussing Sinking and Floating. We did 2 experiments. One was to see if an egg can float and the other was to see what happens to raisins in water and then in ginger ale. We noticed that the raisins sunk in the water. We needed to be patient and look closely at the raisins in the ginger ale. We noticed that there were many bubbles on some raisins and then they began to float.
Reminders:
1) Please return any work from student led conferences including the blue page with 2 stars & 1 wish.
2) Scholastic flyers were sent home today. Orders are due next Monday if interested.
