Today we began our literacy rotations with some changes to groups and with different teachers. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Barchuck with our Grade 1 teaching team. Students are continuing to use a variety of strategies to help them read including looking for words inside of words as well as covering up endings to see familiar word chunks. We brainstormed many Winter words and discovered that there are many action words ending in "ing" like sledding, skating, toboganning and snowshoeing. As well there are many compound words like snowball, snowman, snowflake and snowshoe. In math we used a Venn Diagram to survey our classmates about their interests or holidays. This afternoon, we had music and science. We looked at our plants and noticed that there are plants growing really tall up a string lattice. We think they are beans.
