Dear Parents,
Today it was warm enough to go outside for both morning and lunch recess! Yeah!!! We made sure that everyone was all bundled up and ready for the weather. It is so nice to get out and burn off some energy! Hellloooo last week of school before winter break! Did we mention it was a full moon as well?!?!
This morning Ms. Fuhrman led an art lesson. We made sun-catcher snowflakes out of coffee filters. We first talked about warm and cool colors - ask me for an example of each! Then we chose 3 colors and colored our coffee filters. Afterwards we looked at pictures of snowflakes to find repeating shapes and cut our own snowflakes. Tonight, Ms. Fuhrman is going to spray the snowflakes with water. We'll get to see the big reveal tomorrow!
After art we wrote about our family celebrations. Some of us celebrate Christmas, some Eid, some Diwali, and Hanukkah. We were very focused for this writing and got some great writing down. In math we solved a Snowman problem. We were given different options of clothes and were asked to find as many combinations as we could. We are really learning to organize our thoughts. We found out there were 16 different combinations.
After lunch we had Yoga and worked on Iris to upload some pictures from our Open Minds Trip. Here is a message from the Grade Ones:
Thank you so much for your support at the Grade 1 Used Toy and Book Sale this year. We were able to raise $1099 thanks to you!!! That means we were able to but new items to fill 40 backpacks with toys, books, toiletries, etc. for children that are living on the street here in Calgary. For more information on an amazing local organization, please check out Stephen's Backpack Society at http://www.stephensbackpacks.com/
Incredible!
Have a great night!
Love,
The Grade Twos
