We had a fire drill and practiced getting out of the building quickly when our usual exit was blocked. We did a quick and quiet job! In the gym we played Quest games, they were Freeze Dance and Assassin. For art we made flowers using pencil, Sharpie and markers. During art we were interrupted with a loud fire drill.
When we come back to school on Monday, it will be June! One more month of school until we are Grade Threes! Love, The Grade Twos We made our supply lists for our house building today. Ms. Watkins will fill our orders for us to purchase on Friday or Monday. Our caterpillars are getting bigger, we are so excited for when they will turn into butterflies. We did our Quest show this morning for the whole school.
We will see you back here by 5:45pm for our 6pm show. The students will meet in our classroom, the parents will go and find their seats in the gym. Please come in through the front doors. Love, The Grade Twos We learned a lot more about butterflies and caterpillars. We figured out what they eat inside or outside in nature. We practiced with Quest Theatre two times. We added music to our show. In Quest we learned a new game called Assassin. Three people were IT and we had to guess who the Assassin was. Today was our last practice day with Quest. We made ant antennae for the show. We are going to make our own houses for the Pioneer village. We can make them out of lumber or sod.
Reminder that the show is tomorrow and we would like everyone to wear red or black shirts. If there is a picture on the shirt, you can turn your shirt inside out to wear it. We still need 5 more milk or juice containers - please bring in any you have from home. Have a great evening, We are so excited to show you our production tomorrow at 6pm! Love, The Grade Twos We got to name our own caterpillar. Soon they will turn into butterflies. We are going to make a garden for them. We watched a butterfly video and song.
We worked with Quest Theatre again. We worked in the gym where the stage is. We got through the whole show. Remember we have an evening show on Thursday, please send Ms. Watkins and email if your child will NOT be at the 6pm show. In PE we were outside and played Bridge Tag and a circle game. Our own pioneer village we put together and turned into a big, big town. Keep bringing in the milk and juice containers, we need six more! Love, The Grade Twos We started working with Quest Theatre today. We are doing a story about 100 Hungry Ants. We need to remember 2 numbers - ask me what they are? We started building our pioneer villages. Red squares were for the government land, green for our land, black for the train track, brown for the road, yellow was for our field. In gym we went outside and we stretched, then played parachute. It was hard in the wind. We also did cat and mouse on top and under the parachute.
We need 10 more milk containers to build out houses for a pioneer village. A reminder that we have an evening show for the parents on Thursday at 6pm to show you our Quest performance. Love, The Grade Twos This morning we designed and built a sailboat. We will modify them and try them out again next week. We went to a Quest Theatre show. Each class had a different show, ask me which one was my favourite? Next week we will be doing a Quest show and the final show will be for parents on Thursday night at 6pm.
Remember we are still collecting milk and juice containers that are rectangular and made with cardboard and wax. Love, The Grade Twos Today we made boats with tin foil into shapes. Then we tested then to see how many counters they would hold. We built a different boat and tested it again. About half of us had a second boat that held more, but half of us had a first boat that held more counters. For math we practiced scoring for a game called Cribbage. We didn't use the boards yet. We needed to find doubles, runs, four cards of the same suit and numbers that add up to 15. We also had to add our scores together.
We are collecting milk and juice containers that are 2L, 1L or 500 mL. We are looking for the cardboard and wax ones that are rectangular prisms. We will be building a pioneer village. Love, The Grade Twos We made an egg float by adding salt and that made salt water to make the egg float. Ask me how many teaspoons it took to make the egg float? We have some ideas about why that worked...discuss this with us at home. We went outside for PE, we played the Game with No Name and played with the Grade Ones. In math we practiced subtraction with a dice and rolled for tens and ones. We had to remember to put the larger number first and when to use regrouping and not.
We are coming home with an invitation for Volunteer tea which is on June 5 in the morning. Enjoy the lovely weather! Love, The Grade Twos We worked on an experiment. We put water in a bucket. We shaped a block shape of plasticine into a boat or cup. That did not work, but Mrs. B made the plasticine thin and it floated! In math we did the same thing as Thursday except with subtraction. We went outside for gym to play Quick Pass with other Grade Ones and Twos. The music teacher was there too!
We had a really kind substitute today :) We are collecting 1 and 2 L milk cartons for a project (the wax cardboard, not plastic kind). If you have some, please send them in with your child. Love, The Grade Twos This is a belated blog from May 13:
Bring your Stampede journals if it's not at school already. In music we did rhythm cards in groups. We used instruments to make the rhythm. In writing, some of us wrote about chuckwagon races and some about cemeteries. Ten people in our class said they think their parents will watch chuckwagon races during Stampede. We would like to encourage everyone to tune in at least once if you are in Calgary! They are exciting! Love, The Grade Twos |
AuthorWe are a Grade Two class who blogs about our day at the end of each school day. This gives our parents hints to start conversations about our day. We also put reminders here for parents. Archives
