We has lots of fun in Grade Two today!
In the morning, Mr. Knitter's class had music and Mrs. Goodall's class exchanged their home reading books. In the next few weeks, you will notice that our home reading books come home in a plastic bag with a piece of paper talking about home reading activities. Could you please keep the plastic bags in our blue folders? It will help protect our book and provide space for our teachers to send home more reading information. On one side of the home reading sheet, at the bottom of the page, there is a list of on-line books you can access for free (while Mrs. Goodall sorts out Raz kids!).
After Music, we continued with our word work, while Mrs. Goodall and Mr. Knitter read with students.
In Math, we prepared for a little quiz we are going to write tomorrow. The purpose of the quiz is to encourage us to read and follow directions, demonstrate our knowledge of some of the curriculum goals we have been learning, and to help our teachers better understand how to plan our Math lessons for the rest of the year.
Social was so interesting today! We learned about how the Mi'kmaq First Nations People and the French settlers helped each other to survive and how they worked together to become the group of people known as the Acadians.
Finally, we finished the day with Gym! We are playing spaghetti and meatball floor hockey! Ask us about it!
Notes:
Skating on Thursday! Don't forget to bring a pair of mitts to wear on the ice and a bag lunch!
Homework: Mrs. Goodall and Mr. Knitter have been getting a lot of requests to send home worksheets. They have been using a few Math worksheets in class to review some basic adding and subtracting but they will be working on place value to 1000 next and this will involve a lot more hands-on activities and less paper and pencil activities. If you find the worksheets beneficial, you can go to mathaids.com and print off as many as you like! We will continue to post activities you can complete at home and bring into class to share. We are really enjoying sharing our book reports!!!
Love,
The Grade Twos
