Today in gym we did a partner warm up. We tried to rally throwing dice and balls and not letting them touch the ground. In music we learned a new game called Charades. We had to act out what we did on our spring break. We also learned about Music Monday and the "We are One" song. We learned about secondary and tertiary colors and added them to a colour wheel. Then we found complementary colour by using a marker to see which colours were across from each other. We made a graph of our favorite complementary colors that you can see in the picture. We found that the red-orange and blue-green combination was the most popular. Next we will use those colours to create another quilt. Love, The Grade Twos Today in gym we learned some new warm up stations. We made quilts by putting together checkerboard squares and made a rectangle. It could be 2 by 12, 8 by 3 or 6 by 4. We chose 6 x 4 to put together 24 squares. We had a new poem called April because April is coming on Wednesday. We looked at all 15 artifacts again to see what they were really used for by the Blackfoot people. some were what we thought and some were surprising.
Love, The Grade Twos We are all ready to show off our work to you tomorrow. Remember to not come by yourself, bring us! We will be your leaders.
In music we got to learn some Irish dancing. For science today we split worms from compost. Today we didn't do a math problem. There will be one for you to do with us at conferences. We are coming home with swimming report cards in our red folders. There is also a notice about cultural night planning. If any family would like to look after the fish or frogs over the break, send me a message and I will pack them up for you to pick up after your conferences. Have a wonderful Spring Break. We will see you again on March 30. Rest, have fun and be safe! Love, The Grade Twos Today we looked at the Buffalo Kit again. We got to more of the stations that Ms. Watkins switched around, we have been to 5 or 6 artifacts so far. In music we played games like Sorry, Four in a Row, Picturica, Guess Who, Puzzles, Trouble and did some drawing. In gym we played two games, in groups with balls. We also had to do some jumping jacks and burpees with the other game. We practiced throwing and working in groups. We read the Kindness Quilt.
Please remember that Muscular Dystrophy pledge forms are due tomorrow. Love, The Grade Twos We wrote some Limericks because it is St Patricks Day tomorrow. When we come to school, wear green tomorrow.
We made a background for a lighthouse. We used watercolor paint and let it drip down for the clouds. We had to change our water and it was really complicated. For math this morning Miss Joy came in and brought some scripts and each person had their own script with a problem or question. We had to solve the problem by subtracting. Some of the challenges we had to do adding and subtracting. In the gym we played one of our favourite games, Keep It Clean and Bye Bye Tag. We did a longer warm up than usual, we were really tired by the end of gym!
Next week there are three days of classes, then Thursday is Student Led conferences from 8am to 8pm. Have a great weekend, Love, The Grade Twos This afternoon we did a Hop for Muscular Dystrophy. We are coming home with our bunny ears. We looked at artifacts from the Buffalo Kit. We wondered: what it is for? What it is made of? Who used it? If it was for a job or for a tool or for having fun?
We are coming home with magazines about the Brier. Love, The Grade Twos Today we opened up a Buffalo kit from Fort Calgary. We have many artifacts to look at. We wondered what they were for? You have to be very gentle with them and use the white gloves to pick anything up. In music we played on the drums, we all got a chance. We played a game called Heads Up Seven Up. For math we did a water problem about Nolan and his water bottles. We noticed that Nolan would have saved a lot of money by using a reusable water bottle instead of buying five bottles of water every day!
Tomorrow at lunch is knitting club. Please bring your supplies. Tomorrow we are also doing the Hop for MD. Remember your pledge forms for tickets. Love, The Grade Twos We read a story about quilts and our homework is to talk to our parents to see if there is any quilts in our house with a story. It may have been passed down from parents. We played Toilet Tag in the gym. It helps us be faster runner, not bump into to other people and use some strategy to not get caught. We also played a throwing a tennis ball at a target. It is harder than it looks! In music we shared one picture from the song we also practiced our instruments. It was our final test for the instruments. We can tell we are getting better because instead of getting stuck on a song many times, now we only get stuck once or twice. In our Acadian Community book we did the last page on deportation. We did our question quivers that we made at the beginning of the Acadian study. Everyone could answer their questions now. We are bringing those quivers home to show you.
Love, The Grade Twos We studied more about the Acadians. We have one more flat section to go on the deportation. We had an awesome day. In gym we did Swamp Tag softball. We love that game. We have a new poem authored by one of our classmates.
Did you know that March is nutrition month? We talked about eating healthy breakfasts. If you have a healthy breakfast idea, share it with us. We are loving the warmer weather. Love, The Grade Twos |
