Dear Parents,
Brrrrrrr..... what a chilly start to the week! We stayed inside all day and had many body breaks. At lunch we played games in the gym and then had puzzles in the Learning Commons. We ate our lunch in our classrooms - kind of like a little picnic. What we noticed about our class though is that everyone was well prepared for the crazy cold weather! Kudos to us!
Today we started off with Music and Gym. In music we started a song about the Circus. Then we went to gym and began learning circus tricks! How fun is that? Today we got to try out the devil sticks, the Diablo, skipping, hula hoops, and juggling. We watched a short clip that gave us tips to begin juggling with scarves. We'll keep adding as we go! So much fun. Afterwards we learned a new poem called, "The Little Turtle". We then compared the turtle in the poem to the turtles in our room.
Our focus on addition and double-digit addition continued. We needed a little review of place value before moving on to double digit addition but our teachers are proud of our progress today. Some of us even tried double-digit addition with carry-over. Impressive! For literacy we learned the 5 aspects of a friendly letter. They are:
We learned that the comma is used in the date, the greeting and the closing! The comma is an important punctuation mark!
This afternoon we continued our talk on Hot and Cold with a review of Endothermic and Ectothermic animals. Ask me to give you an example of each!
We hope you have a great evening! Remember that Kindergarten registration starts today!
Love,
The Grade Twos
