Dear Families,
Today Mrs. Ahn spent some more time in our room discussing Habits of Mind....the focus today was on self-control. Ask your students what they had to try and keep away from ;)
We talked about Remembrance Day today; its significance and why it is so important that we do remember.
We put a quote about Remembrance Day in our Explorer journals and could illustrate around it or write about it. Some of us wrote songs and poems. We came up with some amazing pages.
In Math, we compared grocery prices in Iqaluit to grocery prices here. In Iqaluit a bunch of green grapes cost $28 while in Calgary they are $8!! We talked about why food costs more in Iqaluit and we added up the costs of individual items in both places and found out just how much more things cost in Iqaluit.
This afternoon we conducted an experiment on viscosity called 'Rolling Liquids'. Ask me what viscosity is and how we did the experiment. It was cool!!
The 10th Annual Veterans Food Bank campaign is looking for non-perishable food donations in Calgary. Much of the food collected for veterans in need of all ages comes from schools. Our Evergreen School collection started at the Halloween Howl and will continue until the Remembrance Day assembly on Nov. 10. Please bring all donations to the boxes in the foyer. Thanks for your generosity to Canadian veterans.
Are you a F.E.F.?
We are looking for Fit Evergreen Families! If you like to get active as a family, we want your pictures to add to our F.E.F. wall. If you don’t have a picture, try and get out and do something active with your whole family and take a selfie. What are some easy ways to get out and move as the weather gets colder? Walk the dog. Throw a ball. Go for a hike. Try something new! Skiing? Snow shoeing? Cross Country skiing? Skating? Tobogganning? Come up with your own family adventure and start bringing in your photos!
*Put your name on the back if you want your picture returned.
*Pictures will be posted on a Bulletin Board in the school.
Have a great evening!
Love,
The Grade 2's
