Dear Families,
Today we started the day with the other half of our gym and ketchup flip flop. Then we had Word Family Wednesday. We looked at the word light to tap it out, spell it and find other words that are related to it. Homework: Can I find another word related to light? (i.e.. lightbulb, lighting) After that we did writing groups. After snack we had 2 rotations of BUILD before lunch. In the afternoon, we finished our 123 draw of snowflakes. then we used fine liner sharpies. At the end of the day we had circle of courage. Important reminders: We have skating next week. Please bring skates if I have them and /or a helmet. (hockey helmets to ski/snowboarding helmets will work. Bike helmets will not) If I don't have skates or a helmet then I can get them at the oval. No School for students on Friday (conferences) Thursday is a regular school day. Dear Families,
Today we started with reading stations and then we had flex meeting for Try it Tuesday. Ask me what was new that we tried today. (hint: it had to do with science and measuring) What can I tell you about it? We also set up for another experiment in our sketchbooks. This one has to do with hot and cold. After snack nd recess we had literacy centers. In the afternoon we started with yoga and then we did BUILD. Ask me what I did for my rotation today. At the end of the day we had gym and ketchup as part of our flip flop. Important Reminders: We are desperately seeking volunteers to come supervise skating on Wed Feb 8.If you have a valid police clearance and you can help with this please email Mrs. Stuart or Mrs. Tipper and let them know. Thanks! If you have not yet returned your skating permission forms please do so. Remember parent-teacher conferences are Thursday and Friday! No school for students Friday -- regular day for students Thursday. Dear Families,
Today we started the day with reading stations and then we had our music and gym flip-flop. When we came back to class we had a short ketchup time before snack and recess. Also in the morning we looked at our poem of the week. We picked an interesting word to do a word study on, just like we did with Mr. Bowers on Friday. In the afternoon we read some more of our chapter book and then we did a picture walk about Acadian landscapes. We looked at pictures and wrote down everything we could see. We noticed that we had lots of words in common. We also made a world out of them. Our last job today, we started to design a landscape for an Acadian diorama with a partner. Important reminders: *** we are still looking for volunteers to help with skating on Wed Feb 8. If you are able to come with us and you have a valid police clearance please let us know. (you don't have to skate) We are looking for a word that follows the rule of doubling a consonant when adding a suffix that starts with a vowel. The words we looked at today we star + ing = starring or star+ ed = starred. Can you help us find another word that fits this rule? Dear Families,
Today we started the day with reading stations. Then we had flex meeting. We looked at some of new stories on CBBC kids that we didn't have a chance to look at yesterday. Then we had our literacy centers. After snack and story we went to gym together. In the afternoon, we did 2 rotations of BUILD for math. Ask me what my 2 jobs were today. Important Reminders: Please return skating field trip forms if you have not done so already. We are still looking for volunteers to help out for this trip. If you are available to help Feb 6, 8 or 14 and have a police clearance with the school please let us know! Don't forget to book a parent teacher conference. Feb 2 and 3--- spots still available! Dear Families,
Today we started with reading stations and then we had flex meeting. Today we looked at an article from National Geographic Kids about missions to Mars. Next we learned about someone who explored snow. His name is Snowflake Bentley. Ask me to tell you about him. We did a page in our explorer journals about him. Then we had a quick snack and recess before literacy. In the afternoon, we did a 123 Draw that we are going to paint later. Then we learned about snow! Dis you know that there are 3 kinds of snowflakes? Can I tell you about them? We worked in our sketchbooks to create a page that we could use to help us look at snowflakes the next time it snows. At the end of the day the red stars went to gym and the green stars learned how to cut snowflakes from paper. Important Reminders: Please return skating field trip forms if you have not yet done so. We are looking for volunteers to come skating with us for our supervision ratios. (don't worry you won't be skating) Please let us know if you are able to come! Make sure to sign up for parent-teacher conferences. Feb 2 and 3 You an do this online through my CBE account from the school webpage. Dear Parents,
