Reminder: Tomorrow is our Terry Fox Run at 9:30am! If you have signed up to volunteer could you please meet in the staffroom at 9:00am...thank you :)
Your child will be wearing a sticker...I am running for________. If you could think of a special person they would like to run for and they can let me know tomorrow, I will fill in their sticker.
Thank you again for the donations...what an amazing response we have received. The students have been very proud of the money they are contributing to cancer research.
Today we spent some more time exploring story problems in Math. It is exciting to see the students gaining more confidence and using strategies that work for them.
We read a story called 'Mean Lily Jean' and discussed ways that we can be a good friend. We made a chart with 2 sides: What a friend does and What a friend does not do. We had some very good conversations around what being a good friend looks like. Tomorrow we will be doing a writing activity to go along with what we talked about today.
We had our literacy stations/guided reading block with Mrs. Tipper/Mrs. Stuart's class today. For those who read a new book in guided reading today it should be coming home in the communication folder so that it can be read over again.
This afternoon we did a cool activity! We closed our eyes and imagined we were exploring a number of different places. We had to listen really carefully and think about what we could hear. We had to imagine what we might see. After, in our Explorer journals we designed a page titled: What an Explorer Needs.
Each of our pages is very unique. Some of us used mostly drawings, while others used writing and some used a combination One thing is for sure...we are definitely all explorers! As one student pointed out "it is good for us to keep exploring so that we can learn about all the cool things in the world!!!" Exactly ;)
Have a wonderful evening :)
