We enjoyed a beautiful morning sketching our class tree in fall. We noticed the leaves are turning golden, red and orange. Many of the leaves have fallen and many branches are bare. There are still a few green leaves and crabapples. The students did a very good job looking carefully to add accurate details.
Our new popcorn words are:
* she * are * go * going * at
With our new words, we practiced short, tall and fishing letters, "ing" endings and rhymes with "at" like bat, cat, rat. We used our whiteboards to practice printing neatly in the lines and then used play dough to make the words.
In the afternoon we enjoyed frisbee in gym working on accurately throwing the frisbee to a partner and then into a target. Ask me what the target was. After gym in math, we finished our Power of 10 cards and played Memory and Make 10 with them. We also compared different shape, number and letter patterns on the Smartboard and using pattern blocks. At the end of the day we finished a fun book called The Day the Crayons Quit. In the book, the crayons were writing letters to boy named Duncan. Poor blue crayon he got used so often he was so stubby and tired. :)
Important notes:
1) Scholastic flyers sent home - due next Tues. Oct. 13
2) No school next Monday Oct. 12 due to Thanksgiving
