In the morning we noticed that the temperature of the melted snow was close to 20 degrees whereas it was close to 0 degrees yesterday just after it melted. We talked about why the temperature of the water was warmer. We filled the cups again (since there was so much snow outside!) and noticed that the temperature inside the snow was close to -5 degrees. Brrr!
In Hip Hop we learned some new moves: Outlaw, Circle and Cross-over step. Next week we will be learning Bollywood and performing for the school and families on Friday March 17th at 10:00 am.
In math we played a place value game and practiced thinking addition for subtraction.
For instance, if 15-8 =7 then 7+8=15 or 8+7=15. We were also challenged to create our own number sentences such as: if 44 - 20 = 24 then 20 +24 = 44 or 24 +20 = 44
In the afternoon we completed letter L in our ABC of Acadia book. (L is for lobster that the Acadians trapped.) Then we followed a step by step drawing to complete a lobster sketch.
At the end of the day we continued our printmaking from last week. We created new images and experimented with a variety of colors. We also tried to make a template with our name which needed to be reversed. Tricky!
