This week we have been focusing on ‘ing’ endings. We are learning that for words ending with an ‘e’, we drop the ‘e’ and add ‘ing.’ For words ending in a consonant we just add ‘ing.’ During buddy reading, we looked carefully and recorded words with ‘ing,’ Some words we found were: dreaming, migrating, thanking, cooking and singing.

We also listened to the story, The Very Last First Time and wrote about our own very last first times. The story is about an Inuit girl who travels under the ice at low tide to get mussels for the very first time. We talked about how she wouldn’t have the ‘first time’ experience ever again so it was her very last first time. Hmm – a little bit of a word riddle!
