Wow - what a cool day! We still go outside for a recess break and at lunch time so please have your child dress for the weather.
Today we began our day with music where we are learning rhythms and patterns. We also had buddy reading and literacy before recess. Many students worked on solving our mystery word which has these letters: eeeousshrt. They found many smaller words like: out, see, set, he, horse.
After recess we were thinking about our big question this year - Why Explore? and brainstormed what explorers do and the tools they use / need.
In the afternoon, we continued to refine our work on our 'Happy Place' boxes. It's been a busy, creative classroom with paints, glue, plasticine, tissue paper and many other materials. Students have been thoughtfully deciding what materials will work to create the ideas they imagine. Before playing tag games in gym we were learning about Canada and where Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope Run. Many questions were asked about who Terry was and why he couldn't finish running home to BC. They also described him as a hero, brave, strong and caring. At the end of the day we played charades and enjoyed the book Farmer Joe goes to the City.
Important notes:
1) Toonies for Terry can be sent in.
2) Parent Teacher conferences Thursday evening and Friday morning. No School Friday.
