Today we learned about a new artist from Nova Scotia. His name is Alan Syliboy. His art is inspired from rock petroglyphs, has life and ancestors. He mostly uses acrylic paints and includes animals such as whales, moose, turtles. We noticed that some of his art pieces include a simple human figure with different patterns or designs throughout which makes it look abstract. When looking at his art we thought about these questions:
How Is Everything Put Together?
What is the first thing that catches your eye?
Is anything repeated?
How are things connected?
What is the most important colour, shape or object?
Do some shapes appear to be close up or far away?
