Dear Parents,
This morning in gym we started Floor Hockey! We were very excited about starting a new unit! We talked about the proper way to hold a stick, as well as safety tips. Ask me how far my stick should be coming up (shins, knees, hips or shoulders). We then practiced passing back and forth with a partner. We are getting used to handling the stick properly and gaining control of the ball (we used nerf balls). In math we came up with a Fairy Tale problem based on the stories we read as a class. Our question for today was: There are 6 characters - Jack, Goldilocks, Pig 1, Pig 2, Pig 3 and Baby bear. If they play in pairs, how many different combinations could there be? Our big focus was on how we organized our thoughts/ideas. Ask me how many combinations I came up with!
This afternoon we read the story of Hansel and Gretel (a condensed version). Afterwards we talked about some things we liked about the story. These are some aspects of the story that we liked:
We talked about the meaning behind the story and what it was teaching us. We learned a lot of great lessons from this tale. Ask me what I learned from it!
Have a great night!
Love,

- Gretel (the sister) was smart and tricked the witch
- Hansel came up with the idea to drop pebbles to get them back to the cottage the first time
- They found treasure and became rich!
- The step-mother wasn't around when they finally came home to their dad.
We talked about the meaning behind the story and what it was teaching us. We learned a lot of great lessons from this tale. Ask me what I learned from it!
