This morning we started off with Norval Morrisseau art! We looked at 6 different pieces of his and decided which one we liked best. We then drew our version of this piece on black card stock. When our pictures were done we traced over it with glue. Tomorrow we will be adding in color with chalk pastels. The glue creates a physical barrier for the chalk pastels and acts as the thick black outlines that he is known for.
We then had our literacy time. Ask me which tasks I focused on today!
This afternoon we had two subs in with us! Ms. Watkins and Mrs. Stanford (along with the rest of the grade 2 teachers) had planning time. With the guest teachers, we did Cosmic Yoga for our daily physical activity. We then wrote a journal entry discussing what we like about living in Calgary:
- The Flames!
- Evergreen ( :) )
We continued on with our comparison of grocery prices for Calgary and Iqaluit. We created number sentences based on the differences. Did you know that a bunch of grapes in Iqaluit is $28.00?!?! Can you imagine?! Kraft dinner is 5 dollars and Doritos are 8 dollars!
Enjoy your evening together :)
