This morning we started off with "Team Edit Tuesday". This week we had to pick out all of the commonly used words that were spelled wrong. Some of the words included: that, what, love, because, and, etc. Afterwards Mrs. Stanford's group went to Music. We practiced the song, "What is the Forecast" for the Big Chill performance coming up on November 30th!
In Math we learned a mental math strategy called, "Doubles Plus One". We can use this strategy to answer math equations that have numbers next to each other on a number line. For example: 4+5 - we know that 4+4 is 8 and we then we add 1 more. We wrote it as 4+4+1= 9. See if I can use this strategy to answer the questions 7+8.
This afternoon we did another science experiment. This one was called, "Dissolving in Water". We mixed equal amounts of salt, cocoa, corn starch, coffee grounds and epsom salt into water. We wanted to find out if the solids dissolved completely into the water, creating a solution, or if it didn't dissolve, creating a suspension. We were surprised that the coffee grounds didn't mix into the water.
Have a great night!
Love,
The Grade Twos
