Dear Parents,
This morning we started our day learning a little about Lighthouses. We looked at some pictures of lighthouses and discussed why they might be important to the Acadians. We know that the Acadians live/lived on the East Coast and are surrounded by water. We know that they are fishers and rely on to catch fish, lobsters, crabs, etc. We saw that lighthouses send out a powerful light to warn ships of their location. Afterwards we followed step-by-step instructions on how to draw a lighthouse. They turned out beautifully. Our teachers are super impressed. Ask me what I drew in the background of my picture.
We then wrote our weekly letters to you! There has been so much learning going on this week and so much to remember that our teachers thought it would be a good idea to get it all out today instead of waiting til tomorrow. Please remember to tell us how amazing we are and write back to us. We love reading your letters and answering your questions.
For math, we practiced single-digit addition. We did a little self-assessment afterwards about how we felt doing this type of math. We were very honest with ourselves and some of us know that it would be a good idea to practice our basic addition skills at home.
This afternoon we had gym all together and then continued on with our discussion of warm and cold-blooded animals. We had to sort pictures of animals into the right category. The best part: instead of using the term warm or cold-blooded, we learned the terms Endothermic and Ectothermic. Ask me which one is which.
Challenge: How can you tell the difference between endothermic and ectothermic animals?
Have a great night!
Love,
The Grade Twos
