We are short several volunteers for the Feb. 8 (10:00 am to 2:00 pm) skating time. If anyone is able to come along to help tie skates our teachers would be very grateful!!! Please send them an email and they will send home a volunteer form for you to sign.
Today in Social Studies, we worked on letter E in our ABC of Acadia books. E stands for Evangeline. The story of Evangeline is an Acadian Folktale. Ask us to tell you the story!
In Science, Mr. Fred (our facility operator) took us into the mechanical room in our school. We saw lots of different thermometers! We learned that we have boilers that heat our water and several big furnaces that heat our school. We also learned that Mr. Fred puts glycol in some of the pipes to stop them from freezing in the winter. Most exciting of all, we got to look out onto the roof of the school. We discovered that it has been painted white! Ask us why!
In Math, we practiced our adding and subtracting skills by playing race to 100. We started at 1 and raced to 100 using an one hundred chart and dice. We also started at 100 and raced back to 1! It was a fun way to practice our skills.
In Art, we continued to work on our Acadia paintings. We added a light house to our background. They look so amazing!
In Gym, we are learning stick handling. It was fun to practice "carrying" a ball or puck using a hockey stick.
