This morning we learned about hatching and cross-hatching as a way of shading. Get me to explain to you the difference between the two. When is cross-hatching a better option? We then drew a sketch of the Calgary Tower and used hatching and cross-hatching to shade in the different parts. To draw the Calgary Tower we first looked at the shape of it. We all decided that it looks like a giant cupcake with a candle on top!
We then went into Daily 5. Ask me what I did for literacy today!
After lunch we had gym! In gym we practiced ball handling skills using the basketballs. We used our fingertips to hold the ball. One trick that we are working on is bouncing the ball while slowly lowering to the ground and back up again without loosing control. Tricky! After gym, Ms. Watkins' group practiced their Doubles plus one while Mrs. Stanford's group had a visit from Mrs. Ahn. She put chips on our tables and then taught us a lesson on self-control. It was really hard not to eat them right away and we had to come up with ways to distract ourselves from eating them. At the end of the lesson we were allowed to eat them. Yummy! To finish off the day we had "Ketchup and Pickles". We first finished off any work that needed to be done before moving on to pickles!
Sooo....... What are you doing December 5th - 9th? Want to join us for our Open Minds?! We are still desperately looking for volunteers. Police clearances take up to a few months to get approved so unfortunately you must already have your clearance to join us. Let us know!
Have a great night!
Love,
The Grade Twos
