Dear Parents,
This morning we had our 'Team Edit'. Mrs. Stanford wrote a letter with all of the b's and d's switched. We do this a lot in our writing. The goal is to make sure that our b's and d's are facing the right way in our own writing. In music, Mrs. Stanford's group practiced the second half of our show. Afterwards we came back for Daily 5. Ask me what book I am reading and what activities I did during literacy.
During snack today we discussed the different religions from across the world. We don't normally talk about religion in public school but we thought it was important that everyone realize that we ALL belong in Evergreen School and that people must be respectful to each other at all time, regardless of their religion. We realized that the religions all had something in common. They all stress being kind to others.
In math we played Flip Three Memory. We used a deck of cards and placed them face down like in memory. We then flipped over three cards. If you could make a number equation using those numbers you got to keep the cards. If not, you flipped them back over and hopefully remembered where the numbers are for next time.
After lunch we had another Science Experiment. This time we were looking at the shape of 4 different liquid drops. We compared the shape of water, corn syrup, oil and dish soap. We used the terms: dome, round and pancake. Ask me what shape a corn syrup droplet is! We then put each liquid on top of a piece of magazine with words. We looked to see what happened. Corn syrup magnified the words the best. Ask me why (bonus points for using the term 'surface tension'!)
Reminders:
- Our Remembrance Day Assembly will be on Thursday at 10.
- The last day to donate to the Veteran's food bank is Thursday.
Have a great night!
Love,
The Grade Twos
