We had longer literacy stations this morning since we were reviewing how to do each Daily Five station. We knew this, but had forgotten what the jobs were. We learned some owl facts. We know that owl feathers are very soft. They eat meat, so are called carnivores. Instead of solid bones, the owl bones are hollow so it's easier for them to fly. When they fly they are silent because the wind goes through their feathers. We listened to an owl scream - it was alarming. We wanted to hear it after reading about an owl scream in the Owls in the Family book. They also can bark!
We are coming home with a letter about the lunch order trial with the Lunch Lady. The orders need to be in by May 12 - please do them online, asap.
Please send in the family artifacts for a social studies project we will be working on. There isn't a calendar for this! Please send a picture or artifact and make sure we know the story behind the artifact to tell about it.
Love,
The Grade Ones
