This Saturday, May 7th, one of our classmate's father is competing on Chopped Canada! Check it out! Good Luck Mr. Nair! We are rooting for you!!!
Dear Parents,
This morning we had an assembly hosted by the Grade Twos. They showed us all of their work on the Inuit, the Acadians and the Pioneers. One of our favorite parts was the demonstrations of the Inuit games and the Pioneer dances. We did a special good bye to Mr. Craig - it was so great to see him again. It will be beautiful outside tomorrow...get outside and play! A Happy advance Mother's Day to all of the Moms, we hope you are spoiled :) Love, The Grade Ones Dear Parents,
This afternoon we used some paint...we can't tell you why! We did some writing....we can't tell you why for that either! You will have some surprises soon ;) In the gym we did some skipping. We noticed that some children who couldn't skip a week ago, now can skip with a rope. A reminder to bring in your family artifact as soon as possible. If it is really valuable or special, please send us a picture or email a photo to us. A few of us need to still bring Zoo forms in. Please bring those in tomorrow. If you don't have police clearance for volunteering yet, this time of the year is much faster for processing so it would be a good idea to get that rolling now. We will need lots of volunteers for our trips we are planning for next year. Love, The Grade Ones Dear Parents,
We can't tell you what we worked on this afternoon, but that it was very artistic and modeled after a famous piece ;) We were working on some number recognition up to 100 in math today. Tomorrow we will play a game to make sure we know them all and can find those numbers on a grid. We did regular literacy rotations today. We have most of the field trip forms in - just 6 more to go! Please bring them in if you haven't done so yet. Enjoy the summer weather outside! Love, The Grade Ones Dear Parents,
Today we had two guest teachers in for Ms. Watkins and Mrs. Stanford. It was our flip flop day for PE and music. For PE we went outside because pictures were set up in the gym and it was a beautiful day outside. We ran, did jumping jacks and played with equipment. We also had our class picture outside. In Music we played games such as "Doggie, Doggie". We did lots of sketching as a scientist and drew great horned owls and barn owls. Ask me what facts I learned about owls that I didn't know when I woke up this morning? We also looked at our garden beans and tried to figure out why some are soft and some are hard and crunchy from the Purple Pole Beans. In math we played Bingo with numbers up to 100 - most of us can recognize and find those numbers now. Enjoy the great day outside! Love, The Grade Ones Dear Parents,
Sorry for the late posting, it took a while to sort out some technical issues, but we are up and running again! Today we did literacy rotations just within our classroom. We will do regular switches for the remainder of the week. We did some fact research about owls today and are working on flip up pages with our owl facts and drawings. We will continue working on those tomorrow. Our practice lockdown was this afternoon at the end of the day. If you have any questions about this, please ask Mrs. Stanford or Ms. Watkins and we will follow through. It is important to practice so we know what to do, just as we practice fire drills and evacuation walks. Thank you to all the parents who have already filled out the Zoo field trip forms for our trip on May 16. We do have enough volunteers, but you are welcome to join us and use your Zoo Pass or pay your admission at the gate. Please remember that you need to have a current police clearance for volunteering with students. If you don't have it, now would be a good time to put in your clearance checks, since we will need many volunteers for trips we are planning for Grade 2! Enjoy the great weather this week, The Grade Ones |
AuthorWe are a Grade Two class who blogs about our day at the end of each school day. This gives our parents hints to start conversations about our day. We also put reminders here for parents. Archives
