Today we played a cup game in the gym and we practiced rallying a ball back and forth. We had a lockdown drill this afternoon. We think we were the quietest class in the school. We learned how to write an interesting character description. We each wrote our own description. We finished a shopping money problem in math. It was our student teacher, Miss Joy's last day today.
Love, The Grade Twos Today we learned about AJ Maclean, who was one of the Big Four that started the Stampede in 1912. His nickname was "Honest Archie", do any of us have nicknames and what do they tell us about our personality? We did a shopping problem and used increasingly difficult numbers. We are working on adding details to our writing, telling more information and not using 'robot writing'. Ask me what we did in Music?
Love, The Grade Twos Today we had PE and Music back to back. In Music we played freeze Tag, Doggie, Doggie and Wax Museum. In PE we played the Cups game that we learned yesterday. We worked on a story outline after looking at a picture idea. Ask me about the picture from the Journey book? We are going to work on developing the middle of the stories from this outline. We read and made notes about two more of the Big Four men who helped start the Stampede. See if I can tell you an interesting fact about George Lane or A.E. Cross?
Love, The Grade Twos The Kindergarten children are learning about community helpers. We are very excited to be having Mrs. Bridle's husband, who is a paramedic, come to school on Wednesday, April 15. The coolest part is he is bringing his ambulance! Please do not be alarmed if you see an ambulance outside of the school on Wednesday...there is no emergency! If you have any questions, please let Mrs. Bridle know.
Today we did a poem about a windy day. We were chatty today, tomorrow will be better. In gym we played cups, they are pylons and there were two teams for each class. If you were on the up team you had to make the cups face up and if you were on the down team, you had to make the cups turn down. Today we did our art from Friday that we didn't have time for. We drew fish with a wax crayon, then painted over the wax crayon with orange and yellow. Next we used black for eyes and fins, last we flicked blue bubbles with a toothbrush.
It is only three more weeks until we go to Stampede School. We still need two volunteers for May 4 & 5 and three more for May 6 , 7 & 8. A big thank you to the 4 families that have helped fill the other spots...we have 19 more families that can help us out! We couldn't do amazing trips like this without our volunteers. Please email Ms. Watkins if you can take a day and join us down at the Stampede. Love, The Grade Twos This morning was the first ever Evergreen's Got Talent show . The Grade Three and Fours did some amazing performances. Some of us really loved the gymnastics, the singing and dancing, the piano and the hockey skills.
We are thinking about what our talents are. Love, The Grade Twos We had Rocks and Rings today at PE class. Our favourite part was running to the hog line and slipping on our knee. In math we finished quilt patterns and helped each other. We learned about Pat Burns, who was one of the Big Four who started the Stampede, and found that he did multiple things in his life. Ask me if I can tell you an interesting fact about him?
Love, The Grade Twos We learned some facts about Guy Weadick and his wife. See if I can tell you five facts about their lives? In music we did sharing again. We shared some music and some of us did a three person band, some of us did some acting out. We learned more about We Are One, the song. One of our classmates even played the piano. We made our last and trickiest quilt using a design and complementary colours.
Love, The Grade Twos In math today we made more quilts. We took 4 squares and cut them into 32 triangles to make a quilt design. It was harder than last time said most of us. We didn't think our math was really like math because it was more like puzzles. Today we didn't do gym and Ms. Watkins was confused! We are dong Rocks and Rings on Thursday at a different gym time. In music we shared what we did on the Long weekend. Some of us acted and one of our classmates played piano.
Love, The Grade Twos In science we used our senses to describe what the tomatoes looked, felt and smelled like. In gym today we played revenge tag with the Grade Fours. We had a substitute this afternoon, it was Mrs. Wright. In math we made another quilt out of paper.
Our homework: play outside this weekend! A reminder that there is no school on Friday for Good Friday and no school on Monday for students (it's a PD Day for teachers). See you again on Tuesday. Love, The Grade Twos |
AuthorWe are a Grade Two class who blogs about our day at the end of each school day. This gives our parents hints to start conversations about our day. We also put reminders here for parents. Archives
